WASHINGTON, D.C. -- After a close first half, Catholic got away from the Elizabethtown College women's basketball team in the third quarter of Wednesday night's Landmark Conference matchup at Franny Murray court.
Kiley Wilhelm had a team-high 14 points for the Blue Jays.
Elizabethtown got to the foul line plenty, 35 times to be exact. The Jays hit 28 of those foul shots, the fifth-most in a single-game in program history. The only trouble was the shooting from the field was holding Etown back throughout.
The Cardinals started off slow, but were ahead after the first and second quarters as the game went into halftime at a six-point spread, 35-29.
Catholic took control of the contest in the third, outscoring EC 28-13, and thrived off Etown's turnovers. The Cardinals converted them in 26 points, 10 in the third alone while also outscoring the Jays 16-4 in the paint.
By the fourth, the lead was too large to overcome as Catholic sent Elizabethtown to its second conference loss of the season.
Makenna Mummert was a team-best 8-for-8 at the free throw line.
Allyia Kennedy went 5-for-5 and Wilhelm was 4-for-4.
Ava Chapman knocked down both of her attempts. Anderson grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
Elizabethtown plays at Susquehanna on Saturday, January 24, at 4 p.m.
