ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—The Elizabethtown men's volleyball team reigned over the King's (Pa.) Monarchs on Tuesday as they grabbed the 3-0 sweep.
Braydon Ambruster recorded a double-double of 13 kills and ten digs, while
Logan Smith totaled 11 kills (.429).
Patrick Neyer tallied a season-high 43 assists and
Dustin Hagin grabbed a season-high 19 digs.
Set scores were 25-13, 25-18, 25-18.
Elizabethtown was off to a strong start early in set one as they had a 7-3 lead. Kills from Smith,
Mason Boyer, and Neyer pushed their lead to 11-7. The Blue Jays then rattled off four in a row before tallying five straight which almost doubled their lead. Two Monarch errors ended the set to give Etown the 25-13 win.
Set two started a bit close as Etown led by just three early. A 4-0 run from the Monarchs left them trailing by just one to the Jays. A 5-1 run from the Blue Jays pulled the team out 18-13 with help from Ambruster, Smith, Neyer, and
Max Sears. Etown extended their lead to 22-14 following Smith kills. Etown won the set, 25-18.
Etown jumped to a 7-1 lead after rattling off six of their first seven points in a row. For a while the two teams traded points, but the Blue Jays had doubled their lead to 14-7. King's came back within three but Etown had pulled away again to win, 25-18.
Etown travels to Eastern on Saturday for a tri-match with Cairn.
