GLENSIDE, Pa.—The Elizabethtown men's volleyball team earned their third straight win to start the season as they defeated Arcadia, 3-1.
Logan Smith recorded a double-double of 13 kills and ten digs.
Braydon Ambruster led the team with 18 kills.
Patrick Neyer tallied 38 assists while
Dustin Hagin grabbed 18 digs.
Set scores were 25-21, 20-25, 25-23, 25-17.
The first set was tight to start as the two teams went back-n-forth. Midway through the set the Knights grabbed a three-point lead before the Blue Jays responded with five straight points. Ambruster recorded an ace to bring the team's lead to 20-17. Kills from Smith, Neyer, and Ambruster ended the set, 25-21. Etown began the second set strong leading 8-3 early. After Arcadia tied up the set at eight, the Knights rattled off eight in a row to lead, 16-10. Etown couldn't catch up and Arcadia took the set, 25-20.
Set three began close just as set one.
Mason Boyer and Ambruster smacked down kills putting the Jays up, 11-10. Etown jumped to a five-point lead after a block by Smith and
Max Sears. Through the end of the set the team's traded points but the Blue Jays came out in front to win, 25-23.
Etown jumped out to a 13-6 lead to start off set four after recording six straight points. Arcadia came back within two before
Arun Gopinath kills sandwiched a Neyer and
Cole Burkhardt block. Ambruster and Smith led the team in kills at the end of the set to win, 25-17.
Etown travels to Grove City to also face Baldwin Wallace in a tri-match on Saturday.
