ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- Seniors
Allyia Kennedy,
Ellie Fasick, and
Makenna Mummert were each in double figures for the Elizabethtown College women's basketball team Wednesday night in a 75-54 win over Juniata. Kennedy registered a double-double, Mummert had a team-high 21 points, and sophomore
Peyton Houlihan added a career-high 13 off the bench.
The Blue Jays took control from the start as they doubled up Juniata in the first quarter, 26-13. Elizabethtown racked up 31 rebounds in the first half to just nine for the Eagles.
Etown also used their size to their advantage, getting to the foul line 12 times in the first half and converting 10 of those, including five from
Kiley Wilhelm. Mummert and Houlihan combined for 23 first-half points.
The Eagles managed a solid third quarter, hitting on 56 percent of their shots, 9-for-16 from the field, but that didn't make too much of a dent in the Jays' lead.
Elizabethtown continued its dominance in the painted area with a 46-28 edge in the game and 23-2 in second chance points as they grabbed 21 offensive rebounds over 40 minutes. 13 of those went to Kennedy, who also had 12 points.
Mummert, Fasick, Kennedy, and Houlihan were constant threats inside and they totaled 57 of the team's 75 points.
Cadence Anderson and Wilhelm added eight each.
Alex Gonzalez connected on a turnaround jumper on the near baseline on EC's final possession.
Bri Bodtorf had 21 points in the game for Juniata.
Elizabethtown hosts Lycoming on Saturday, January 17, at 4 p.m.
