WILKES-BARRE, Pa.—The Elizabethtown men's basketball team dropped their second straight conference game as they fell, 87-69 at Wilkes.
Woody Machado led the team with a season-high 24 points.
Austin Finarelli totaled 11 points while
Ben Stanton added nine points.
The game was close for the majority of the first half as neither side could gain more than a five point lead until with just under seven minutes remaining. Wilkes went on a 9-0 run to go ahead, 37-23. Buckets from
Zuri Harris brought Etown back within nine points of the Colonels. Wilkes ended the first half with a three at the buzzer to lead, 45-31.
Etown started off the second half on a 5-0 run after layups and a free throw from Machado and
Reese Ziegler. The Blue Jays would get as close as nine points to Wilkes but the Colonels kept pulling away. Just after the midway point of the half, Machado sunk a three to bring the score to 54-68. From there the Colonels gained more momentum to lead by 20 points. The lead was too large for the Blue Jays to recover from as they fell, 69-87.
Etown is back on the road on Jan. 14 as they travel to Juniata.
