ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team held their home opener Saturday inside Thompson Gymnasium where they defeated Penn St.-Berks and Arcadia.
ELIZABETHTOWN 3, PENN ST.-BERKS 1 (25-11, 24-26, 25-13, 25-15)
Lucy Stanek recorded a double-double of 18 kills (.378) and 19 digs.
Lucy Stern tallied 20 digs and
Leah Gormley and
Emma Rizzutto added 10 digs.
Marah Glenn tallied 25 assists.
Bailey McFeaters totaled seven kills (.222).
ELIZABETHTOWN 3, ARCADIA 0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-15)
Kate Barbon led the match with nine kills (.280) while
Ida Fisher totaled eight kills. Stanek added eight kills and 11 digs. Glenn tallied 11 assists and three blocks.
Elizabethtown started set one out in front 12-5. Etown then recorded three points in a row featuring a kill from Barbon. Arcadia found their groove as they rattled off seven straight to come within two of Etown. The Blue Jays then went on a 6-1 run to extend their lead to 22-15. Stanek smacked down a kill before a Knight error ended the set 25-18; Etown.
Set two saw the two teams trading points to start before Etown went on a 5-1 following a Stanek kill. Arcadia came back within one after three straight before the Jays pulled ahead again. Fisher put down two straight kills to bring the score to 20-16. Etown ended the set with five straight to win, 25-17.
Etown again started off with the lead to start the set. Following Arcadia errors the Blue Jays were up, 6-3. The Knights closed the lead after going on a 5-1 run. Etown rattled off five straight with the help from Barbon and Stanek to lead, 19-12. McFeaters, Stanek, and Fisher put down kills to win the set, 25-15.
The Blue Jays travel to Lebanon Valley on September 10 at 7 PM.
