ANNVILLE, Pa.—The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team defeated Lebanon Valley 3-2 in their first five-set match of the season.
Ida Fisher recorded a career-high 15 kills (.188) while adding 1.5 total blocks.
Lucy Stanek totaled a double-double of 21 kills and 15 digs.
Marah Glenn tallied 19 assists and
Bailey Doherty totaled 15 assists.
Emma Rizzutto grabbed a season-high 16 digs.
Set scores were 25-22, 18-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-10.
Set one was tight throughout but Etown came out on top, 25-22. The Blue Jays took the lead first at 5-2 after a Stanek kill. Fisher sandwiched kills between an LVC kill to hold Etown's lead, 12-10. After three straight points, the Jays had a five-point lead. Stanek, Fisher and
Kate Barbon finished out the set with kills to give Etown the win. Lebanon Valley started set two with the lead which they never relinquished to win 25-18 tying up the match at 1-1.
Etown fought back to win set three, 25-23 after the Dutchmen began the set with the lead. LVC was up 15-9 before Etown rattled off five straight to come within one of the Dutchmen. The Jays forced a timeout before adding four more points to take an 18-15 lead. Blocks from Fisher, Stanek, and
Alexa Adamek finished out the Jays run. Fisher put down a kill to bring the score to 20-17. LVC then closed the lead but Etown finished out the set with a 25-23 win.
After the Blue Jays lead for a majority of the set, the Dutchmen started to gain momentum in set four. Etown led 15-12 after going on a 4-0 run before LVC took over. The two traded points until the end but Lebanon Valley won, 25-23. The fifth and final set started in a back-n-forth fashion. The Blue Jays gained momentum rattling off five in a row to lead, 11-6. Barbon and Stanek ended the set with kills to win, 15-10.
Etown is on the road at Alvernia September 13 for a tri-match starting at 11 am.
