LANCASTER, Pa.—The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team dropped their first match of the season at Lancaster Bible, falling, 3-0.
Four Blue Jays tallied double-digit digs which included
Lucy Stern (14),
Leah Gormley (12),
Emma Rizzutto (11), and
Lucy Stanek (12). Stanek also totaled nine kills while
Ida Fisher added eight kills.
Etown dropped three sets to the Chargers, 14-25, 19-25, and 26-28. Set one was close to start with LBC leading by just three after four straight. The Jays came within one of the Chargers following a Stanek kill. Lancaster Bible really gained momentum rattling off eight in a row to come within one of set-point. Etown earned their final point via a Charger error before LBC took the set, 25-14.
Set two saw Etown start with a 7-3 lead after several Charger errors. Lancaster Bible then went on a 6-1 run to take over the lead. Stanek put down two straight kills to pull Etown ahead, 14-13. After trading points, LBC ended the set with a 5-1 run to win, 25-19.
Lancaster Bible began the final set with a 10-5 lead after tallying four in a row. A 5-1 run again doubled the Chargers lead to bring the score to 16-8. Down by six points, Etown rattled off six straight unanswered points to come back within one of LBC.
Alexa Adamek and Fisher put down kills on the run. Lancaster Bible fought back retaking the lead before several Charger errors gave Etown a 23-22 lead. After some back-n-forth, Lancaster Bible came out on top, 28-26.
Elizabethtown is back on the road this Thursday, September 4 at 7 PM.
