GRANTHAM, Pa.—The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team dropped their second straight match of the week as Messiah swept the Blue Jays, 3-0.
Kate Barbon led the team with ten kills while
Lucy Stanek tallied five kills and 13 digs.
Marah Glenn totaled nine assists and four blocks.
Set scores were 25-14, 25-15, and 25-18. Set one saw Messiah jump out to a 14-3 lead. Kills from Barbon and
Ida Fisher cut the Falcons lead in half. The two teams traded points for a while, but Messiah still held a substantial lead over Etown. The Falcons ended the set on a 6-1 run to win, 25-14.
The Blue Jays began set two with a 7-4 lead following two straight kills from Stanek. The teams traded the lead before Messiah rattled off five straight points to take a 15-10 lead.
Sierra Plummer and Barbon smacked down kills to come within three of Messiah. The Falcons found momentum which they took to the end of the set to win 25-15.
The final set started just like the first with Messiah taking a large lead to begin. After rattling off four straight Messiah had doubled their lead to 20-9. A 5-1 run from the Blue Jays helped the team close the gap to 21-14. Glenn and Plummer put up blocks for Etown's final points but Messiah came out on top, 25-18.
Elizabethtown opens at home this Saturday to host Arcadia and Penn St.-Berks.
