Women’s Volleyball Falls to the Fords

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—The Elizabethtown women's volleyball five-game winning streak ended Wednesday evening as visiting Haverford swept the Blue Jays.

Lucy Stanek led the team eight kills and also eight digs. Kate Barbon totaled six kills while Marah Glenn tallied 11 assists. Lucy Stern grabbed 18 digs and Leah Gormley added 12 digs.

Haverford began set one with the lead after tallying three straight kills. Elizabethtown came within one of the Ford at 11-10 following Haverford errors. The two teams traded points for a while as the Fords began to extend their lead by four points. Barbon smacked down three straight kills at the end but it wasn't enough has Haverford won, 25-21.

Etown started set two with a 7-3 lead after kills from Bailey McFeaters, Alexa Adamek, Stanek, and Glenn. The Blue Jays then extended their lead to 11-4 after putting up four straight points. A 4-1 run by the Blue Jays had almost doubled their lead to 15-8. The Fords then rattled off five-straight and took control from there to win the set, 25-21.

Set three saw Haverford jump to a 7-1 lead to start. After Stanek put down a kill the Blue Jays had come within three of the Fords. Following four straight points and then later five straight points the Fords had doubled their lead to 21-9. Stanek and Glenn, along with an Addy Reed service ace were Etown's final points but it wasn't enough as the Blue Jays fell, 25-21.

Elizabethtown is back on the road, September 20 as they travel to Wilson to also face FDU-Florham.
