ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown field hockey team dropped a home contest, 7-0 to No.16 Franklin & Marshall Wednesday evening.
Franklin & Marshall out-shot Etown, 18-6 while also earning more corners, 13-3. F&M wasted no time getting on the board after a flurry of shots the Diplomats score within the first two minutes. The Blue Jays were able to fire off four shots in the quarter from
Drew Bridges,
Hannah Long, and
Sara Watson but they were saved by the Diplomats goalie. F&M closed out the first quarter with their second goal at the 11 minute mark. F&M held the ball through the second quarter tacking on two more goals to go into halftime with a 4-0 lead.
To start the second half it was all F&M as they tallied four shots in two minutes. The Diplomats added their fifth goal before Etown was able to take possession and get off two shots in a row. With four minutes remaining in the third, the Diplomats scored another goal to bring the score to, 6-0. The Diplomats tallied their final goal in the fourth quarter in the 51st minute.
Lily DeBlasio made five saves in goal for the Blue Jays.
Etown has a three-game road stint coming up. They will travel to Wilson on September 13 at 11 am.
