Women's lacrosse beats Drew for third Landmark win

MADISON, N.J. -- The Elizabethtown College women's lacrosse team came in to Saturday's matchup at Drew with six straight losses to the Rangers, but a career-high six points from Megan Meyer, six goals by Drew Bridges, and 16 saves from Rachel Murphy equated to a 15-9 win for the Blue Jays at Ranger Stadium.

Elizabethtown got out fast, putting up six goals in the opening quarter to take a five-goal lead into the second. Two of Megan Meyer's goal came in the first, including the first goal of the game with nearly six minutes off the clock. Bridges got her first of six in the game, which tied her career high, a little over two minutes after Meyer's to make it 2-0.

After Drew got back to within one at 2-1, the Jays ran off four straight to close out the first. Kendall Ulmer at 4:18 (from Abby Bach), Megan Meyer at 3:34 (from Madison Hennelly), Megan Gress at 2:43, and Hailey Meyer (from Ella Scholes) at 2:21.

Megan Meyer provided the first two of the second quarter as Etown's lead was extended to seven, 8-1 with under 10 minutes left before halftime.

The Rangers got it to 8-4, but Bridges made it 9-4 with 13 seconds before the break.

Bridges then scored nine seconds into the third quarter after winning the draw control and breaking down the field for the goal. Bridges would score three more after that to finish the game with a game-high six goals, two coming on free positions.

Bridges and Megan Meyer accounted for five of the team's six second-half goals. Abby Bach used a pass from Meyer with 3:15 to go in regulation to put the final score at 15-9.

Murphy had 16 stops, one off her season-high of 17. She made 11 of those saves between the second and third quarters.

Elizabethtown will host Moravian on Wednesday, April 9, at 5 p.m.
