Martin Walks It Off as Baseball Takes Two from Lycoming

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—The Elizabethtown baseball team opened up the three-game Landmark Conference series against Lycoming on a rainy, cloudy Saturday. First year, Sawyer Martin hit a walk-off double to end game one, 6-5 before the Blue Jays took game two, 4-2.

GAME 1: ELIZABETHTOWN 6, LYCOMING 5
Martin went 3-5 with two RBIs, a run, and two doubles. David Woolley went 3-4 for one run, and three RBIs. Mason Woolwine went 2-5 with a run. Justin Marraccini earned the win on the mound.

Lycoming got off to a strong start scoring three runs on three hits. The wet ground proved to be an issue early for the Blue Jays in the outfield. Elizabethtown came within one of the Warriors after scoring two in the second on outfield singles. The Warriors extended their lead to 5-2 in the fourth. On a grounder to second in the fourth inning, Etown added another run.

In the sixth, Tommy Kanakos started off the inning with a single to right center. Kanakos then scored on Woolley's sacrifice fly out to left field to trail Lycoming, 4-5.
In the final inning, Woolley and Woolwine each singled to reach base. On the bases corners, Martin hit a two-RBI double out to right center for a Blue Jay walk-off win.

GAME 2: ELIZABETHTOWN 4, LYCOMING 2
Perilli went 2-3 with two runs, and a RBI. On the mound, Perilli pitched four innings, tying a career-high six strikeouts. Lipscomb went 3-4 with two RBIs. Logan Burns earned the win on the mound while Cory Rible earned his sixth save of the season.

The second game flew by as neither team scored until the sixth inning as Lycoming scored two runs, but the Warriors didn't record a hit until the eighth inning. Perilli made quick work of the Warriors recording six strikeouts with three straight in the third inning.

In the bottom of the six, Etown tied up the game, 2-2. Woolley scored on Lipscomb's RBI single to shortstop before Elizabethtown added the tying run via a bases loaded walk. The Blue Jays scored the final two runs in the seventh off of RBI singles from Perilli and Lipscomb.

Elizabethtown is back against Lycoming tomorrow, April 5 at 12 pm.
