ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—Senior,
Kyle Mulville dished out eight strikeouts in seven innings to lift the Elizabethtown baseball team, 5-1 over Lycoming to compete the Landmark Conference series sweep.
Nick Fiorini hit his first career home run out to right field as he went 3-4 on the day while tallying three RBIs. Fiorini was just a triple short of the cycle.
Sawyer Martin went 2-3 with one run, and a RBI.
Mulville made quick work of the first two innings on the mound for the Blue Jays to keep the game scoreless until the bottom of the second. Martin led off the inning with a single to left field and advanced on a sacrifice bunt. Fiorini hit a RBI-single to bring home, Martin. After three scoreless innings, Etown added two more runs in the sixth to take a 3-0 lead.
Mason Woolwine was brought home on a sacrifice fly for the Jays second run of the game. Fiorini hit a double to left center to score
Tommy Kanakos after he reached base via a single.
With two outs on the board in the seventh, Woolwine singled to center field and then stole second.
AJ Lipscomb singled to third to score Woolwine which extended Etown's lead, 4-0. In the eighth, Fiorini hit a solo shot to right field for the Blue Jays fifth and final run. Lycoming got their lone run across on a ground out in the ninth.
Elizabethtown continues their home stint as they host York (Pa.) this Tuesday, April 8 at 3:30 pm
