ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown baseball team started off their final weekend of the regular season in dominating fashion defeating Drew, 15-1, 9-4 in Landmark Conference play.
Highlights on the day included
Tommy Kanakos' first career home run which also happened to be a grand slam while senior pitcher,
Kyle Mulville came in to bat. Mulville recorded his first career-hit, double, and RBI while at-bat.
ELIZABETHTOWN 15, DREW 1
David Woolley went 2-2 with two runs and a stolen base.
Alex McClain went 2-2 with two runs, three RBIs, a double and a home run.
Nick Fiorini went 2-2 with three runs and a stolen base.
Elizabethtown put up two runs in the first scoring on an error and a sacrifice fly. In the second the Blue Jays jumped to a 9-0 lead. McClain and
Quinten Perilli each hit doubles to bring the Jays lead to 5-0. After
Sawyer Martin was walked to load the bases, Kanakos knocked a four-run home run to right field. Etown added another run in the third on a sacrifice fly to lead, 10-0. Drew scored their lone run in the fourth.
On a double steal attempt, Fiorini stole home in the fifth. In the sixth, the Blue Jays scored on another sacrifice fly, bringing the score to 12-1. Mulville knocked a RBI double to the left field wall to score Martin who reached first via a walk. McClain ended the scoring with a two-run homer.
Joey Smith earned the win on the mound pitching a complete 7-inning game, totaling four strikeouts.
ELIZABETHTOWN 9, DREW 4
Woolley went 3-5 with two runs, a RBI, and a triple. Woolwine went 3-4 with two runs and two stolen bases.
RJ Agriss went 2-3 with a run, and three RBIs.
Elizabethtown scored first in second after scoring on an error. The Rangers tied up the game at 1-1 in the fourth as they scored on a RBI double. Etown extended their lead to 4-1 in the fourth. Perilli reached first via a walk and then stole second. Perilli scored on Agriss' single. Agriss then went on to score on McClain's single. McClain ended the inning scoring off of
Alex Perrin's double.
The Blue Jays tacked on two more runs in the fifth and one in the seventh to lead 7-1. In the eighth Drew found momentum scoring three runs on two hits to come within reach of Etown. In the bottom of the eighth, Woolley hit a RBI triple before he could go on score Etown's final run on a wild pitch.
Maximus Polun earned his first win of the season. Perilli recorded four strikeouts to start while
Lucas Scheib recorded three strikeouts.
Etown will be back tomorrow at 12pm to finish the series against Drew.
