Women's Lacrosse Drops Conference Game at Catholic

WASHINGTON, DC.-- The Catholic Cardinals got away from the Elizabethtown women's lacrosse team, downing the Blue Jays 24-6 in a Landmark Conference game, Wednesday. Megan Meyer led the team with a hat-trick. 

Elizabethtown was off to a great start scoring two within the first minute of play. M.Meyer scored two of her three goals, giving Etown the 2-0 lead. M.Meyer then fed Lauren Puntantan to extend the Jays lead to 3-0. Catholic went on to tie up the game at 3-3 about a minute after Etown's third goal. In the sixth and fifth minutes, Catholic added two more goals to take a 5-3 lead. The Puntanen and M.Meyer duo were at it again for the Blue Jays fourth goal to cut the Cardinals lead. Catholic finished the first quarter with a 7-4 lead. 

Megan Gress found Abby Bach at the 11:23 minute mark of the second quarter. Catholic rounded out the second quarter with seven straight goals to jump to a 14-5 lead at halftime. Catholic tacked on six more goals in the third to lead 20-5. The Cardinals put up two more goals in the fourth within the first few minutes before Etown scored their final goal of the game. Drew Bridges scored on a free-position attempt at the 7:41 mark. The Cardinals added two more goals, ending the game with a 24-6 win. 

Rachel Murphy tied a career-high of 18 saves. 

Etown will end the regular season on Saturday. The Blue Jays will travel to Susquehanna at 1 pm.
