ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown baseball team returned home, Monday as they hosted York (Pa.) in a non-conference game. The Spartans snapped the Blue Jays 12-game win streak, defeating Etown, 4-2.
In a long pitching affair Elizabethtown used a total of ten pitchers totaling six strikeouts. After two quick scoreless innings, York (Pa.) scored two in the third off an error and sacrifice fly. Etown responded in the bottom half of the inning, cutting the Spartans lead to 2-1.
Alex Perrin singled to second and advanced on a balk.
Mason Woolwine hit a single to right field to bring home Perrin.
York extended their lead to 3-1 in the fifth on a RBI double. The Blue Jays again responded in the bottom half of the inning with a run to come within one of York.
David Woolley reached first, drawing his second walk of the day. Woolley then advanced to second on a wild pitch.
Quinten Perilli hit a single through the left side to score Woolley. The scoring for both teams ended in the sixth when York scored their fourth and final run which held up for the 4-2 win over Etown.
Elizabethtown returns to conference play Wednesday, April 23 as they travel to Moravian to wrap up that series.
