ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown baseball team got back into the win column, Wednesday after defeating Catholic, 5-1. Sophomore,
Tommy Kanakos hit a bases clearing double in the seventh inning to help secure the win for the Blue Jays.
AJ Lipscomb earned his first win on the mound, pitching 6.2 innings and striking out four. Lipscomb only allowed one hit through five innings before allowing a total of five. Kanakos went 1-3 with a double and three RBI's.
Mason Woolwine and
Sawyer Martin both went 2-4 while Woolwine also scored a run. Perilli went 2-5 with one run.
After a scoreless first inning, Elizabethtown grabbed their first run on a wild pitch. Etown scored their second on a double play to take a 2-0 lead. Catholic scored their lone run in the sixth to cut the Blue Jays lead. Catholic had a chance to tie things up in the seventh after loading the bases. On a fielder's choice
David Woolley tossed over to second base for the third out.
To start the bottom of the seventh, Woolley reached first on one of the two Cardinal errors in the inning. Perilli singled down the left field line to advance Woolley to second. Two outs later and Kanakos knocked a double to right center for 3-RBIs.
Elizabethtown is back at home for the three-game conference series vs. Lycoming this Saturday, April 5.
