SELINSGROVE, Pa.—The Elizabethtown baseball team extended their win streak to twelve after completing the Landmark Conference series sweep over Susquehanna, Saturday. The Blue Jays took down the River Hawks 9-3 and 16-3 in seven innings.
GAME 1: ELIZABETHTOWN 9, SUSQUEHANNA 3
David Woolley went 2-5 with a run, a double, and four RBIs.
Quinten Perilli went 1-3 with a run, and two RBIs while also earning the win on the mound.
Nick Fiorini went 1-4 with a run, two RBIs, and a home run.
Justin Marraccini grabbed his first save of the season while striking out a career-high six.
After double plays ended both sides of the first inning, Elizabethtown got three on the board in the second.
Sawyer Martin scored on a bases loaded walk after he reached first on a double. Woolley singled to left field to score two. Etown added two more runs in the fourth to take a 5-0 lead as Perilli hit a two-RBI single.
Susquehanna scored all three of their runs in the fifth, cutting the Blue Jays lead to 5-3. To start the seventh, Perilli reached base after being hit by a pitch. Fiorini knocked his second home run of the season for two RBIs. To begin the eighth inning,
Joe Limongelli singled to left and advanced on
Alex Perrin's single to center field. Woolley hit a double to score Limongelli and Perrin for the Jays eighth and ninth runs.
ELIZABETHTOWN 16, SUSQUEHANNA 3
Tommy Kanakos went 4-4 with a run, three doubles, and a career-high five RBIs. Martin went 3-5 with three runs, and two RBIs. Fiorini went 3-4 with a run, two doubles, and five RBIs. Perrin went 1-4 with a run, a RBI, and a home run.
Elizabethtown bats got hot early scoring five runs on six hits. Martin, Kanakos, Fiorini and
Jake Ruple tallied the RBIs. In the fourth with one out, Perrin hit his first home run of the season to bring Etown's lead out to 6-0. Martin hit a single to left field to score Woolley who reached first on an error. The Blue Jays added their eighth run on a wild pitch. Kanakos and Fiorini each RBI-singles to end the Jays scoring in the fourth.
Susquehanna got on the board in the fourth to continue to trail, 10-1. Elizabethtown added two more runs in the fifth and one in the sixth to bring their lead to 13-1. Kanakos hit his third double of the game to bring home three Blue Jays. The River Hawks were able to put up two more runs in the bottom of the sixth but Etown had already forced an early end to the game.
Elizabethtown returns home, Monday April 21 at 3:30 as they host local rival, York (Pa.)
