Blue Jays Scored Early and Often in Waynesburg Sweep

FORT PIERCE, Fla.—The Elizabethtown baseball team scored 24 runs while totaling 28 hits in the sweep of Waynesburg as the Blue Jays closed out their spring break trip.
GAME 1: WAYNESBURG 5, ELIZABETHTOWN 12

Logan Burns earned the win on the mound, pitching six innings tallying six strikeouts. Quinten Perilli went 2 for 3 with four runs, a RBI, and a home run. Sawyer Martin went 3 for 4 with one run, three RBIs, and his first career home run. Charlie Sheerer went 2 for 3 with two runs, and one RBI.

After the first two innings, Elizabethtown led 2-1. The Blue Jays got rolling in the third, scoring three runs off three hits to take a 5-1 lead. Martin and Caeden Schulte each hit a RBI double while AJ Lipscomb hit a RBI single.

The Yellow Jackets came within two of Etown in the third but the Jays would respond with four more runs in the fourth. Perilli singled to left center to start off the inning. Martin then knocked a home run to left field for two RBI's. Etown final two runs of the inning came from RBI singles.

Waynesburg added their fourth run in the fifth as they trailed 9-4. Etown tacked on two more runs in the sixth to extend their lead even further before Perilli would a home run for Etown's 12th and final run of the game. Waynesburg went on to score on more run in the seventh as the Blue Jays would win, 12-5.

GAME 2: ELIZABETHTOWN 12, WAYNESBURG 6
Paul Kvech got his second win on week, pitching 2.2 innings with three strikeouts. Martin went 3 for 4 with two runs, and a RBI. Alex McClain went 2 for 4 with one run, two RBIs and a double. RJ Agriss went 1 for 2 with two runs, two RBIs and a home run. Alex Perrin went 3 for 3 with a run, three RBIs, a double, and a triple.

Waynesburg challenged Elizabethtown in game two as they took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning. In the bottom half of the inning, Nate Moser hit a two-RBI single to bring Etown within one of the Yellow Jackets. After two innings, Waynesburg went up 4-2. Etown tied up the game, 4-4 after Agriss' two run home run.

The Yellow Jackets again took the lead after scoring two runs off a double in the fourth. Etown had a big fourth inning, scoring seven runs off six hits. Perilli started off the inning with a big hit to center field for a triple. Martin sent Perilli home off a single to left field. McClain doubled through the left side to score Martin for Etown's sixth run. Joe Limongelli singled to left field to score McClain. Perrin then hit a hard base clearing triple right center to extend Etown's lead, 10-6. Sheerer single for Etown's final RBI of the inning. In the fifth, an RBI single was Elizabethtown's 12th and final run.
