FORT PIERCE, Fla.—The Elizabethtown baseball team came out on top against Alvernia Thursday afternoon winning 3-2 in 11 innings.
Nate Moser went 3 for 3 with two runs, and a stolen base. Moser's runs consisted of the game tying run and the winning run.
RJ Agriss went 1 for 1 with the winning RBI single.
Joey Smith pitched 5.1 innings totaling five strikeouts.
Ethan Espeset earned his first career win as he pitched the final two innings.
The first four and a half innings were scoreless. Alvernia got on the board first, taking a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth. Elizabethtown came within one of the Golden Wolves in the seventh as
Alex Perrin hit an RBI single to the shortstop. In the ninth, Moser reached first base via a walk. Following a sacrifice bunt and a foul out, Moser had advanced to third. The Golden Wolves threw a pitch just too high, and Moser was able to score the game tying run off a wild pitch.
On the mound
James Pendrak and Espeset were able to hold off the Golden Wolves. To start off the 11
th, Moser hit a single through the left side and then stole second. Agriss knocked an RBI single to left field and advanced to second on an error which allowed Moser to score.
Elizabethtown will close out their spring break trip tomorrow at 12 pm for a doubleheader against Waynesburg.
