CLEARWATER, Fla.-- The Elizabethtown women's lacrosse team had eight different goal scorers in the 12-5 win over Simmons at the Joe DiMaggio Sports Complex.
Madison Hennelly led the team with a hat-trick and two assists.
Maeve Keeney recorded her first career goal.
Morgan Echeverria recorded her first career assist.
The Blue Jays out shot the Sharks' 30-23 and were near perfect in clear attempts going 26-28.
Keeney scored the first goal of the game for Elizabethtown midway through the first quarter. Simmons quickly responded to tie the game, 1-1. At 3:23,
Ella Scholes assisted
Abby Bach, giving Etown the 2-1 after the first quarter. The second quarter was all Blue Jays as Scholes,
Megan Meyer,
Jordyn Hironimus, and
Kendall Ulmer extended Etown's lead, 6-1. Simmons was able to score their second in the ninth minute of the second quarter.
Elizabethtown quickly got to work after halftime as Meyer assisted Hennelly scored her first of the game. After three quarters the Blue Jays held a substantial 7-3 lead. The Blue Jays started off the final quarter scoring four straight. With just under three minutes remaining, Simmons scored their fourth goal. At 1:44, Echeverria assisted Hennelly for the Jays 12th and final goal. With 15 seconds left the Sharks scored their final goal as Etown won, 12-5.
