FORT PIERCE, Fla.—The Elizabethtown baseball team was able to outlast local rival Lebanon Valley, 10-7 on a windy Wednesday.
Alex Perrin went 2 for 4 with two runs, a triple and three RBIs.
Charlie Sheerer went 2 for 4 with a run and two RBIs.
Alex McClain hit the Blue Jays first home run of the season.
Lucas Scheib recorded four strikeouts on the mound while
Sam Herndon grabbed his first win and
Cory Rible earned his third save of the week.
The first two innings were scoreless until Lebanon Valley put up three runs in the third inning. To start off the fourth for Etown,
Quinten Perilli doubled to left field and was brought home on
Nick Fiorini's double. Elizabethtown added three runs on three hits and two errors in the fifth to take a 4-3 lead. The Dutchmen retook the lead in the sixth after they scored three more runs.
In the bottom of the sixth, Etown tacked on three more runs to just lead, 7-6. After putting on two base runners via walks, Perrin knocked a triple to center field to bring home two. Perrin then was able to score on a passed ball for the Jays seventh run. LVC was able to come back within one in the top of the seventh.
McClain started off another three-run inning with a home run to left field. Perrin and Sheerer earned the team's two final RBI's which brought in Etown's final two runs of the game.
Elizabethtown will play another local school tomorrow as they face Alvernia at 12 pm.
