ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—The Elizabethtown baseball team hosted #8/#9 Salisbury in a non-conference doubleheader at home, Saturday. In game one through a 5-5 stalemate Etown forced an extra inning but fell, 9-5 before falling 10-6 in game two.
GAME 1: ELIZABETHTOWN 5, SALISBURY 9
David Woolley,
Mason Woolwine and
AJ Lipscomb each recorded two hits in the game while Lipscomb and
Sawyer Martin also earned two RBI's each. Woolley,
Quinten Perilli, Lipscomb, Martin,
RJ Agriss, and
Alex Perrin each recorded a double for the Jays.
Salisbury scored first recording two runs in the first before Elizabethtown responded to tie it up 2-2 in the bottom half of the inning. Perilli reached first after being hit by a pitch and then advanced to third on Woolwine's single to left field. Lipscomb hit a single to center field to score Woolwine and Perilli. After two scoreless innings, the Sea Gulls grabbed a run in the fourth and the two more in the fifth to lead, 5-2.
In the bottom of the fifth, Etown tacked on three runs to again tie up the game at 5-5. Perilli and Martin each RBI's doubles to center field for the Blue Jays three runs in the fifth. Several more scoreless innings forced a tenth inning. In the 10
th, the Sea Gulls bats got hot totaling four runs to win 9-5
GAME 2: ELIZABETHTOWN 6, SALISBURY 10
Woolwine went 3 for 5 with a run, two RBI's and a home run. Woolley went 2 for 4 with one run, two RBI's and a double. Perilli went 2 for 5 with one run, one RBI, and a double.
After three quick and scoreless innings to start game two, Salisbury got on the board first in the fourth scoring two runs. The Sea Gulls went up 5-0 after six innings before adding two more runs in the top of the seventh to lead, 7-0. Elizabethtown got it going in the bottom of the seventh scoring four runs to cut the deficit. Perrin reached first on a fielder's choice and then advanced on Woolley's single up the middle. The two then advanced on a wild pitch. On Perilli's single down the left field line, Woolley and Perrin scored. Woolwine hit a two-RBI home run to center field, bringing the score to 4-7.
In the eighth, Salisbury hit a three-RBI home run to extend their lead to 10-4. In the bottom of the eighth, Woolley hit a 2-RBI double down the left field line to bring in Etown's final two runs.
Elizabethtown returns home April 1
st to host Catholic at 3:30 pm.
