ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—The Elizabethtown women's lacrosse team opened up Landmark Conference play with a dominating 22-5 win over Goucher, Saturday.
Ella Scholes recorded a career-high seven goals while adding an assist.
Abby Bach scored four goals and two assists.
Megan Meyer,
Lauren Puntanen, and
Drew Bridges each recorded a hat-trick.
Puntanen also picked up five ground balls and eight draw controls while Bridges grabbed seven draw controls.
Elizabethtown went up early in the game going up 5-0 in the first quarter as Scholes,
Madison Hennelly, and Bach tallied the goals for the Blue Jays. Etown took a 8-0 lead in the second quarter before Goucher scored their first of the game. Seconds after the Gopher's first goal, M. Meyer scored Etown's ninth. With 4:20 remaining, the Gophers tallied their second goal of the game. At 4:09, Bridges fired off her first goal of the game to go into halftime leading, 10-2.
After an early Goucher goal seconds into the third quarter Meyer fed Scholes for her fourth goal of the game. Just 30 seconds later, the Gophers scored their fourth to trail the Blue Jays 11-4. With 11 minutes remaining in the quarter, Etown tallied a flurry of goals scoring five in a span of six minutes to extend their lead, 16-4. Goucher added their final goal at the 3:55 mark in the third quarter.
Elizabethtown kept up their momentum tacking on six more goals with help from Bach, Puntanen, Meyer, Scholes, and Bridges.
Elizabethtown travels to Lycoming next Saturday, March 29 at 1 pm.
