SCRANTON, Pa.—The Elizabethtown baseball team held on to win game one, 10-9 against Scranton before falling, 6-3 in the Landmark Conference series against the Royals.
GAME 1: SCRANTON 9, ELIZABETHTOWN 10
Quinten Perilli went 3 for 3 with four runs, three RBIs, and a home run.
Sawyer Martin went 2 for 4 with two runs, and a RBI.
Alex Perrin went 3 for 5 with two runs.
Joey Smith earned the win on the mound going seven innings while
Cory Rible earned his fourth save of the season.
Elizabethtown got up early scoring three runs in the first as
Alex McClain hit a 3-RBI double to center field. In the second, Etown put up three more runs to take a 6-0 lead.
Tommy Kanakos singled to left field before Perrin bunted for a single to advance Kanakos. Perilli hit a 3-RBI home run to left field to extend the Blue Jays lead.
Etown held their momentum through the fourth adding two more runs to lead, 8-0. After reaching via a single, Perrin was able to score with
Mason Woolwine's RBI single to center field. Etown's eighth run came via a fielder's choice. The Royals scored their first run of the game in the fourth inning before the Jays responded two innings later with two more runs to gain a 10-1 lead. In the final few innings, the game belonged to Scranton as they would score in the sixth and eighth to come within just one of Elizabethtown.
GAME 2: SCRANTON 6, ELIZABETHTOWN 3
RJ Agriss and
Joe Limongelli went 1 for 4 with one run, one RBI and a home run.
Game two saw Scranton score first as they tallied two runs in the second. After two scoreless innings, Elizabethtown cut the Royals lead, 2-1 after Agriss' home run. In the bottom half of the fifth and seventh, Scranton added three more, extending their lead to 5-1.
Elizabethtown cut Scranton's lead to 3-5 in the eighth as Limongelli started off the inning with a solo home run. On a bunt single and error, the Blue Jays scored their third and final run of the game. The Royals secured their 6-3 win with a sacrifice fly in the eighth.
Elizabethtown is back tomorrow to face Scranton at 12pm for the final game of their series.
