ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—The Elizabethtown men's volleyball team hosted ranked #9 Vassar, Thursday evening falling, 3-0.
Braydon Ambruster led the match with 13 kills while
Mason Boyer totaled 11 kills.
Ethan Scott tallied 25 assists.
The first set was the closest as Vassar won by three points, 25-22. The final two sets Elizabethtown fell behind early to fall, 25-13 and 25-14. To begin set one the two teams traded points as Elizabethtown was able to get a 9-7 lead following a kill from Boyer and a block by Boyer and
Cole Burkhardt. Vassar took a 13-10 lead after going on a 6-1 run. The Brewers kept gaining momentum as they went up 17-12 after three straight points. Etown was able to come back within two after kills by
Alan Lisman, Ambruster, and Boyer. After several Blue Jay errors, the Brewers had reached set-point but Etown didn't give up yet as they tallied three more before Vassar won the set, 25-22.
Set two saw Vassar jump to a 12-3 lead after several long runs. Burkhardt, Boyer, and
Trey Weedon put down kills while trading points with Vassar. The Brewers finished the set on a 5-1 run to win, 25-13. The Brewers began set three with another substantial lead. Following four straight points, Vassar held a 16-6 lead. Two Etown kills sandwiched a Burkhardt and Boyer block to bring the score to 20-13. Vassar grabbed the final three points to win the set, 25-14.
Elizabethtown returns home Monday, March 24
th to host Widener at 7 pm.
