ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.--The Elizabethtown baseball team picked themselves back up Tuesday at home against Catholic after losing their last four games. The Blue Jays downed Catholic, 11-4 where three of the Cardinals four runs came way of solo home runs.
Quinten Perilli earned his first win of the season on the mound, striking out four. Perilli also went 2 for 4 with a double, a run, and a RBI.
Tommy Kanakos went 2 for 3 with three RBI and
RJ Agriss went 2 for 4 with two runs, and two doubles.
Alex McClain went 2 for 5 with a run and two RBIs.
Catholic's first solo shot home run came in the first inning as they took a 1-0 lead. Elizabethtown took the lead in the second after scoring two. Timely hits from
Nick Fiorini and Agriss put them on base. Kanakos hit a single to center field to score both Fiorini and Agriss. The Blue Jays jumped to a 6-1 lead in the third after tallying four runs on three hits.
David Woolley reached first via a walk and then advanced on Perilli's single.
Mason Woolwine knocked a single to left center to bring home Woolley. Perilli scored Etown's fourth run off a ground out. McClain hit a big RBI triple to center field to score two. The Cardinals recorded their second run off another solo home run in the fourth as they continued to trail, 6-2.
In the fourth, Woolley started off the inning with a single to first. Perilli brought Woolley home off a double to left center. In the fifth, Etown tacked on two more runs to take a 9-2 lead. The Cardinals knocked their third home run of the day in the seventh. Perrin started off the seventh with a single to left field. On Woolwine's single to shortstop, Perrin crossed home for the Jays tenth run of the game. Catholic scored their fourth and final run in the eighth, trailing 10-4.
Etown scored their final run in the eighth as McClain reached first on a single and then advanced to third on a failed pickoff attempt. Kanakos recorded his third RBI on the day, bringing McClain home.
Elizabethtown travels to Scranton this weekend for another Landmark Conference series starting at 12pm on Saturday.
