Men’s Volleyball Soars Past Knights

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—The Elizabethtown men's volleyball team started off the week on a high note, sweeping visiting Neumann, 3-0.

As a team the Blue Jays hit .500 while putting down 45 kills. Braydon Ambruster led the match with 12 kills (.625). Ethan Scott tallied 25 assists. Logan Smith and Arun Gopinath each totaled seven kills.

Set one started close as Neumann started off with a 6-5 lead after an Etown service error. From there it was all Blue Jays as the team went on a  9-1 to a 14-7 lead.  Gopinath, Ambruster, and Mason Boyer tallied kills on the run along with several Knight errors. Up until 19-12 the two teams traded points. Smith smacked down a kill followed by two Craig Patrick aces to put Elizabethtown up by ten points. Gopinath got the final kill, giving Etown the 25-15 win.

Neumann again started out in front early but that didn't last long as the Jays went on a 11-1 with help from Declan Keller, Smith, Gopinath, Scott, and Cole Burkhardt. Kills from Josh McCoy, Keller, and Gopinath put Etown up, 21-10. Through the end of the set the teams traded points but Etown's lead was too large for the Knights. The Blue Jays took set two, 25-14.

Set three saw the Blue Jays soar out to a 12-0 with the help from Alan Lisman's serving. Neumann earned their first point of the set off a Blue Jay error. After some back-n-forth Etown held a 10-point lead at 20-10. Trey Weedon, Ambruster, Boyer, and Lisman smacked down kills to win, 25-14.

Etown returns home tomorrow to open up CVC play against Kean at 7 pm.
