Men’s Volleyball Sweeps Kean to Open CVC Play

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—For the first time in program history the Elizabethtown men's volleyball team swept Kean in Continental Volleyball Conference play.

Dustin Hagin grabbed 20 digs while Braydon Ambruster tallied 37 assists. Logan Smith led with 12 kills while Mason Boyer totaled 11 kills and 6 digs

To start the match, Elizabethtown and Kean traded points to begin set one. Etown grabbed an 11-8 lead after recording four points in a row. After some more back-n-forth, neither team led by more than two. Kills by Arun Gopinath and Smith tied up the set 17-17. The end of the set stayed tight throughout with the Blue Jays earning the final two points to win, 25-22.

Elizabethtown started set two with a 6-3 lead following Smith and Mason Boyer kills along with Kean errors. Set two was just the same as the first with the two teams trading points. The Cougars tied up the set at 11-11 after two straight kills. Two Blue Jay kills sandwiched a Boyer ace to put Etown up, 15-12. Elizabethtown managed to keep a gap between Kean as they led, 21-17 towards the end of the set. Boyer and Ambruster ended the set with kills for a 25-21 win.

The Blue Jays took their momentum into the final set as they jumped to an early 8-3 lead. Smith and Boyer smacked down a few kills; extending Etown's lead to 13-7. Declan Keller put down a kill followed by two Cougar errors lifting the Jays to a 19-12 lead. Smith added the final two kills before a Kean service error ended the set, 25-17.
