READING, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown women's lacrosse team struggled early at Albright Saturday as they fell, 19-13.
Ella Scholes led the team for the second straight game with five goals.
Drew Bridges contributed four goals while grabbed two ground balls and two draw controls.
Hailey Meyer and
Megan Meyer each combined for a total of nine draw controls.
Albright got started early leading Etown 5-0 after the first quarter. The Lions scored within the first 20 seconds of the second quarter shortly before Bridges got the Blue Jays on the board. Goals from M. Meyer and Scholes rounded out the three for the Jays in the second quarter as they trailed, 9-3 at halftime.
In the first two minutes of the third quarter the two teams traded goals. Albright started first followed by another goal from Bridges. In the 13th minute
Megan Gress scored the fifth for Elizabethtown. The Blue Jays began to recover scoring three in the next five minutes as two goals from
Lauren Puntanen sandwiched another from Bridges. Albright grabbed another a few seconds later still holding the lead at 13-8. Etown trailed 13-10 at the end of the third quarter after tacking on two more goals.
The Lions went off on a flurry of scoring to start the fourth quarter adding on three more goals to lead, 16-10. Scholes fired off three more goals in the final quarter but it wasn't enough as Albright won, 19-13.
Elizabethtown travels to Alvernia on February 26 at 4 pm.
