Three Reach Career-High’s as Drew Defeats Men’s Basketball

MADISON, NJ.--Five Elizabethtown men's basketball players reached double figures in the 87-96 loss at Drew, Wednesday evening.

Austin Finarelli led the team with 14 points and three steals. Malik Hudges grabbed a career-high 14 points while Alon Gorham tied a career-high of 14 points. Zuri Harris also reached a career-high with 13 points and three assists. Rance Russo rounded out the five in double figures with 11 points.

Finarelli, Hudges and Reese Ziegler each made an early layup to start the game and at the 16th minute mark, Drew led 10-7. Two from Harris but Etown up 11-10 just a few minutes later. The Blue Jays started to get into a good rhythm after a MJ Branker dunk and three from Gorham. Midway through half, Etown held onto a two-point lead. A minute later, Finarelli sunk a three to extend the Jays lead.
After several lead changes in the first half, Elizabethtown trailed 41-44 at the half.

Layups from Finarelli and Hudges to start the first half, regained the Blue Jays lead. Four minutes into the second half Etown went on a 5-1 run to take a one-point lead. The Rangers gained momentum in the next several minutes to jump out to a 64-53 lead at the 12-minute mark. With nine minutes remaining, Gorham dropped in a 3-pointer as the Blue Jays trailed, 61-70. In the final minutes, Drew continued to power past Elizabethtown; ultimately defeated the Blue Jays, 96-87.

Elizabethtown shot .565 from the floor while the Rangers shot .525. There were a total of five ties and ten lead changes throughout the game.

Elizabethtown will host Scranton this Saturday, February 22 at 4 pm where they will honor their seniors prior to the game.
