ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—The Elizabethtown men's basketball team used a big second half to defeat Franklin & Marshall, 68-59 inside Thompson Gymnasium on Sunday.
Austin Finarelli led the game with 25 points, going 9 for 9 from the free throw line.
Woody Machado totaled 13 points while
EJ Finney added ten points and four assists.
Franklin & Marshall led the game early within the first five minutes of the first half. Machado sunk a 3-pointer in the 11
th minute giving Etown a 12-9 lead. Neither team could grab more than a two-point lead through the next four minutes. A Finarelli free-throw tied up the game at 23-23 before the Diplomats went ahead, 28-23.
Anthony Lilly and Finarelli each added a layup to end the half with Etown trailing, 32-30.
Coming out of halftime, F&M continued to hold the lead following a 3-pointer. After F&M extended their lead to 39-36, several points from Finarelli but the Jays out in front, 48-42 midway through the half. Points from
Crew Wells and Finney doubled Etown's lead to 52-52. From there Franklin & Marshall was unable to catch up leading to a 68-59 Etown win.
Etown will travel to Messiah on Nov. 11 at 7:30 p.m.
