ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—Using a well-balanced attack, the Elizabethtown men's basketball team rolled to an 82-58 victory over Susquehanna in Landmark Conference action. This is the team's first win over the River Hawks since 2022-23.
Austin Finarelli led the game with 23 points, seven rebounds, and five steals.
Ben Stanton added 11 points and four rebounds.
Reese Ziegler and
Woody Machado each totaled nine points.
The game was tight to start the first half with neither team gaining more than a three-point lead until the final minutes of the half.
Anthony Lilly got things started for Etown, sinking a three and dropping in a layup. Finarelli's back-to-back layups about midway through the half kept the Jays in the lead at 17-16. Susquehanna retook the lead in the ninth minute before a layup from
EJ Finney put the Blue Jays back on top. At 3:51, Stanton sunk a 3-pointer, extending Etown's lead to 28-23. Baskets from
Zuri Harris, Finarelli, Ziegler, and Stanton ended the scoring for the half with Etown leading 38-24.
After the first half, Etown shot 51.85% from the field, 80% from the line, and 54.55% from beyond the arch.
Within the first four minutes of the second half, Etown had pull ahead by 20 points following a Machado layup on a fastbreak. Midway through the half, the Blue Jays continued to hold the substantial lead, leading 62-40. The Blue Jays went on a 7-0 run, bringing their lead up to 25 points. In the final two minutes, Crew Well grabbed a dunk before sinking a three to bring the score to 79-55.
Dylan Handley dropped in the final basket for Etown giving them the 82-58 win.
Etown steps out of conference play on Nov. 25 as they host Lebanon Valley.
