ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—With his second bucket early in the game, senior
Austin Finarelli recorded his 1000
th career point as the Elizabethtown men's basketball team downed Rosemont, 94-65.
Zuri Harris led the game with a career-high of 19 points. Finarelli totaled 13 points going 5-8 in field goals and 2-3 in 3-pointers.
Ben Stanton and
EJ Finney totaled 11 points. Finney grabbed four rebounds and six assists.
Anthony Lilly tallied ten points going 4-6 in field goals.
Etown opened the scoring with early baskets from Finarelli, Lilly, and Finney as the Blue Jays led, 7-1. Rosemont picked it up coming within two of Etown before a layup from
Augie Brody pushed the Jays to an 11-point lead. Finarelli sank a three with six minutes remaining in the first half extending Etown's lead to 35-20. In the final three minutes Harris grabbed six points to give the Blue Jays a 46-23 lead at halftime.
Coming out of the half layups from Finney and Lilly brought the score to 50-23. The Blue Jays were strong under the basket as Finarelli, Lilly,
Woody Machado, and
Crew Wells recorded layups about midway through second half. At the 7:40 minute mark, Finney dropped in a good layup on a fastbreak to bring Etown's lead up by 30 points. Two back-to-back three's from
Brandon Ascione kept Etown up by 30 points at 82-51. With five minutes remaining, the Blue Jays stayed steady in the paint as
Rohan Chappali and
Luis Guzman ended the scoring for Etown.
Etown will host Moravian on Nov.19 as they open up conference play.
