Women’s Volleyball Falls to Catholic in Conference Play

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team fell 3-1 to visiting Catholic Friday evening in Landmark Conference action.

Lucy Stanek led the match with 19 kills and 11 digs for a double-double. Kate Barbon recorded a career-high 13 kills. Angela Ouimet tallied 33 assists while Lucy Stern grabbed 12 digs. Ida Fisher recorded three block assists to earn her 100th career block while the team tallied 14 total block assists.

Set scores were 17-25, 21-25, 25-13, 20-25. Catholic grabbed an early lead to start off set one after going on a 7-1 run. The Cardinals then doubled their lead to 12-6 after an Etown error. Following several Cardinal errors the Blue Jays had come back with four. Two straight kills from Barbon brought the score of 20-15. Catholic gained momentum to win the set, 25-17.

The Blue Jays started off the set with 5-2 lead after three straight kills from Stanek. Catholic evened the score then took a 14-9 lead as they rattled off seven points in row. Kills by Barbon, Marah Glenn, Stanek, Alexa Adamek and Ouimet brought the team within one at 19-18. Catholic had the upper hand to end the set with a 25-21 win.

Etown got revenge on Catholic in set three winning 25-13 with a .323 hitting percentage. The Blue Jays jumped out to a 12-4 lead to start the set. Kills from Glenn and Stanek kept Etown up by ten points.
The Blue Jays then put down five straight points to pull out to a 21-9 lead. Stanek finished off the set with two kills along with an Addy Reed service ace to win, 25-13.

Set four started in a back-n-forth fashion until Catholic pulled away with a 13-10 lead. A 5-1 run then put the Cardinals ahead, 19-14. Fisher and Barbon finished out the set with kills but it wasn't enough as Catholic won, 25-20.

Etown will face Goucher tomorrow in their final Landmark match of the regular season.
