ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—The Elizabethtown field hockey team started off Homecoming weekend with a dominating 4-0 win over NCAA Division II, D'Youville on Friday.
Senior,
Drew Bridges led the team to a career-high four goals.
Hannah Long and
Sophie Myers added assists on two goals.
Bridges started the team off early at the six-minute mark as she fed the ball from the right side into the lower left corner past the Saints goalie. With just over a minute remaining in the first, Long found Bridges for the Blue Jays second goal. Shortly following a corner in the second quarter Bridges again found the left side of the goal to put up Etown, 3-0.
The third quarter was all Etown as the Blue Jays did not allow a single shot from D'Youville. At the 40-minute mark, Myers found Bridges for Etown's fourth and final goal. The final quarter was more back-n-forth for both teams, but neither was able to capitalize on a goal.
Etown outshot D'Youville 20-6 while holding a 9-4 edge in corners.
The Blue Jays hit the road on Saturday to face Susquehanna for a conference game.
