ELIZABETHOWN, Pa.- The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team hosted a tough tri-match as they fell, 3-2 to Lycoming in Landmark Conference play before falling, 3-0 to Rowan.
GAME 1: ELIZABETHTOWN 2, LYCOMING 3 (25-15, 22-25, 25-18, 22-25, 13-15)
Etown soared to 20 services tying for second in match in program history.
Lucy Stanek grabbed a double-double of 24 kills and 21 digs.
Kate Barbon and
Bailey McFeaters each totaled 11 kills.
Angela Ouimet totaled 35 assists while
Lucy Stern grabbed 26 digs.
The Blue Jays jumped to a 13-6 lead following a five point run. Lycoming came back within three before the Jays rattled off another four to lead 19-12. Stanek smacked down two kills while
Addy Reed tallied two straight aces. Etown ended the set with four in a row to 25-15. While starting off with an 8-1 lead early in set two, Etown fell 25-22 in close set to the Warriors.
Etown once again jumped the lead first, 7-1 with
Emma Rizzutto and Reed tallying aces. The Blue Jays had doubled their lead to 11-5 after a Stanek ace. Kills from Barbon and Stanek put Etown out 16-10 before taking the set 25-18. Set four was tight throughout until Lycoming went on a 5-0 run to lead 17-14. Etown tied up the set at 17-17 but from there it was all Warriors as they won, 25-22.
Lycoming kept their momentum going as they started off with a 4-1 lead in set five. The Blue Jays came back within one following Warrior errors. After some back-n-forth, kills from Barbon and McFeaters put the team up 12-9. Lycoming rattled off five straight before winning 15-12.
GAME 2: ELIZABETHTOWN 0, ROWAN 3 (14-25, 23-25, 18-25)
Etown struggled to get going in set one against Rowan as the Profs went up 15-5 after a 11 straight. It was tough to come back from the deficit as the Blue Jays fell, 25-14. Set two was the closest set of the match. Etown turned up the heat jumping to an 8-2 lead. The Blue Jays then doubled their lead to 12-6 after kills from Barbon and
Ida Fisher. After kills from Stanek and Ouimet at 17-16, Rowan took over and ultimately won, 25-23. Set three started in a back-n-forth fashion but Rowan held the slight 11-7 lead. Four in a row from Etown left the Jays behind by just one at 13-12. Stanek, Barbon, and Fisher added kills to keep it close as they trailed 18-16. The Profs managed to put down five points in a row at the end to win 25-18.
Etown will travel to Drew on Friday, Oct. 24.
