MADISON, NJ.— The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team fought to win 3-2 at Drew in Landmark Conference play, Friday evening.
Bailey McFeaters led the team with a career-high 17 kills and eight blocks. Angela Ouitmet tallied a career-high 40 assists and 11 digs for a double-double.
Lucy Stanek recorded a double-double of 11 kills and 14 digs.
To start off set one, Etown led 5-2 after a kill from
Alexa Adamek. The Blue Jays continued to hold the lead as Drew crept closer. Three straight points pulled the Jays out to 13-8 following an ace from
Emma Rizzutto. Kills from Ouimet and Stanek doubled the team's lead to 20-10. Etown took set one, 25-18.
Starting set two Drew held the lead first until the Blue Jays tied it up at 8-8. McFeaters put down two kills to give Etown a 12-10 lead. Kills from Adamek, McFeaters, Stanek, and Ouimet extended the Blue Jays lead to 18-13. Several Ranger errors helped out Etown in getting the 25-19 win.
Down 2-0 Drew began to gain momentum in the third set. Early in the set the two teams traded points before Etown was able to regain the lead. A kill by McFeaters tied up the set at 12-12. The Rangers then kept pulling ahead to ultimately win, 25-23.
The Rangers again found momentum early in the set as they led 8-6 in set four. Etown took over the lead at 12-10 following a McFeaters kill. Later in the set Drew took over and pulled out to a 20-15 lead. The Blue Jays were unable to recover and fell, 25-22 to force a fifth set.
To start set five, Drew led 4-2 before the Blue Jays took over at 7-5 after a Stanek ace. A Ranger error gave the Jays their eighth point to force the teams to switch sides. Kills from McFeaters and three straight aces by
Claire Erdman gave Etown the 15-7 win to win the match 3-2.
Etown heads up to Scranton tomorrow for a tri-match with Virginia Wesleyan.
