SCRANTON, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team was swept by Scranton in Landmark Conference play before being swept by no.18 Virginia Wesleyan.
GAME 1: SCRANTON 3, ELIZABETHTOWN 0 (15-25, 25-27, 17-25)
Lucy Stanek led the team with a double-double of 11 kills (.258) and ten digs.
Bailey McFeaters recorded nine kills while
Lucy Stern grabbed 10 digs.
Angela Ouimet tallied 17 assists.
Scranton took control early in set one to lead 9-2. The Royals then rolled to a ten-point lead at 16-6 after three straight points. Three kills in a row by McFeaters and an ace by
Addy Reed had cut the Royals lead to 17-11. Scranton took back control at the end of the set to win, 25-15.
To start set two Scranton again started off with the lead but just led 9-5. Five points in a row by the Blue Jays gave Etown a 10-9 lead. Through the end of the set the two teams traded points. Scranton came within one of ending the set at 24-20 before the Jays went on a 5-1 run to tie up the set 25-25. Stanek added three kills on the run. Scranton finished out the set with a 27-25 win.
The Royals jumped to an 11-4 lead in set three. Scranton then doubled their lead to 16-8 before going back to trading points with each other. To end the set the Blue Jays rattled off four straight but it wasn't enough as Scranton won the set 25-17.
GAME 2: VA. WESLEYAN 3, ELIZABETHTOWN 0 (17-25, 14-25, 20-25)
McFeaters led the team with eight kills while Stanek totaled seven kills and 12 digs. Ouimet tallied 15 assists.
To begin set one the two teams traded points as Va. Wesleyan started off with the lead at 10-8. Etown held on until the Marlins rattled off five-straight to take a 20-14 lead. McFeaters ended the Blue Jays run with a kill before the Marlins took the set, 25-17.
Etown started off with a slight lead to begin set two following two kills from
Ida Fisher. Wesleyan retook the lead after a 6-1 run to go up 15-10. After some back-n-forth, the Marlins recorded four straight points to pull out to a 22-13 lead. The Marlins finished out the set with three points in a row to win 25-14.
Va. Wesleyan jumped to a 7-3 lead early in set three. Two kills from McFeaters and an Erdman ace brought the Jays back within one. After four in a row, the Marlins extended their lead to 17-11. Virginia Wesleyan won set three, 25-20.
