ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.—The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team took on the defending national champions at home in a Landmark Conference match, Friday. No. 5 Juniata swept the Blue Jays in close sets.
Angela Ouimet totaled 16 assists while grabbing six digs. Ouimet and
Bailey McFeaters each tallied three block assists.
Lucy Stanek grabbed 12 digs and totaled eight kills (.217).
Etown held on through each set as set scores were 25-18, 25-18, 25-20.
Juniata started off strong in set one coming out to a 6-0 lead. After taking some time to get settled, four straight from the Blue Jays brought the score to 16-11. The two teams then traded points with help from Ouimet and Stanek.
Kate Barbon hit two kills before the Eagles took the final four points to win, 25-18.
Set two saw the Blue Jays start off with a 7-5 lead after three points in a row. Two Eagle errors sandwiched a Barbon kill. Going on a 5-1 run, Juniata took a 11-8 lead. Two back-to-back kills from McFeaters along with Juniata errors gave back the Jays the lead. Juniata put down three kills to regain the lead at 18-15 before taking the set, 25-18.
Set three started in a back-n-forth fashion with Juniata holding a slight lead. Four straight from the Eagles extended Juniata's lead to 16-11. Three straight kills from Stanek brought the Jays within two of the Eagles. A 6-1 run sealed the set three win for Juniata as the Eagles won, 25-20.
Elizabethtown is back at home for a tri-match starting off with conference opponent Lycoming at 12 pm.
