SELINSGROVE, Pa.—The Elizabethtown women's volleyball team dropped their second Landmark Conference match of the season as Susquehanna swept the Blue Jays.
Lucy Stanek and
Kate Barbon each totaled seven kills while Stanek also totaled 11 digs.
Angela Ouimet tallied 11 assists, and
Leah Gormley grabbed 11 digs.
Set scores were; 25-19, 25-12, 25-12. While set one was the tightest set between the two teams Etown still had their struggles. After a small Susquehanna lead, Stanek smacked down a kill bringing the team back within one point of the River Hawks. After some back-n-forth the Blue Jays kept things close with the River Hawks. Three in a row from Etown brought the score to 11-14. The Blue Jays stayed within three of Susquehanna for the rest of the set but it wasn't enough as the River Hawks won, 25-19.
To begin set two Susquehanna jumped to a 7-3 lead. The River Hawks then doubled their lead, 10-5 and then to 16-8. An
Emma Rizzutto ace brought the team within six of Susquehanna before the River
Hawks went up 23-11. Etown couldn't make the comeback and fell, 25-12.
The third set began the same as set two as Etown held on early in the set. They trailed 10-7 after Stanek kills. Susquehanna then rattled off six straight taking a 20-9 lead. The Blue Jays recorded three more points, but it wasn't enough as Susquehanna won, 25-12.
Etown will host #5 Juniata in a Landmark Conference match this Friday.
