BETHLEHEM, Pa.-- For the first time since 2017, the Elizabethtown women's volleyball fell, 0-3 at Moravian, Friday as the Blue Jays opened up Landmak Conference play.
Bailey Doherty earned her second double-double of the season as she tallied 13 assists and 10 digs.
Lucy Stanek led the team in kills with eight while
Kate Barbon totaled seven.
Lucy Stern grabbed 12 digs.
Set scores were 15-25, 13-25, 19-25. To begin set one, Moravian had a 10-6 lead following five straight points. The Greyhounds offense was on fire, putting down several kills to double Moravian's lead 20-10.
Ida Fisher,
Alexa Adamek, and Barbon put down kills at the end of the set but it wasn't enough as Etown fell, 25-15.
Moravian brought their momentum into the second set as they jumped out to a 10-1 lead. Stanek put down two kills in a row before Adamek and Barbon added one of their own to cut Moravian's lead to 13-8. After four more in a row from the Greyhounds it was all Moravian. Moravian took set two, 25-13.
The third set started with the two teams trading points before the Blue Jays flipped the script by taking the lead early. The Greyhounds then rattled off five straight points to retake the lead at 13-8. Kills from Barbon and Stanek kept the close to Moravian at 15-11. Fisher put down two straight kills before the Greyhounds came within one of match point. Two Moravian errors sandwiched an ace from Adamek but it wasn't enough as Etown fell, 25-19.
Etown travels to Wilkes, Saturday for a tri-match with Montclair St.
