Stanton Records Career-High Six 3-Pointers as Men's Basketball Defeats Juniata

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.— Junior's Austin Finarelli and Ben Stanton led the Elizabethtown men's basketball team Wednesday evening to an 80-63 win over Juniata. Finarelli led the game with 20 points while Stanton added 18 points while recording a career-high six made 3-pointers.

Reese Ziegler totaled 14 points while EJ Finney added eight points, eight assists, and nine rebounds.

Ziegler sunk the first of the Blue Jays 13 made 3-pointers on the evening within the first seconds of the game. Finarelli recorded the Jays second to take an 8-2 lead over Juniata in the first four minutes. Just minutes later, Etown made back-to-back threes, extending the teams lead by ten. Midway through the half, Zuri Harris got in on the three-point shooting as he made two in a row. The Eagles slowly closed the gap, making several layups on a run to come within four points of Etown. In the final seconds, Juniata made a final layup to trail Etown, 35-32 going into halftime.

The second half was tight to start with neither team able to lead by more than three in the first five minutes. Points from Finney and Stanton but Etown up, 55-46 in the 11th minute. With four minutes remaining in the game, Finarelli, Finney, and Ziegler contributed points down the stretch. In the final three minutes the Blue Jays grabbed their largest lead of the game at 76-63. From there it would be all Etown to earn the 80-63 win.

The Blue Jays move to 8-10 overall and 5-6 in the Landmark Conference. Etown will host Susquehanna this Saturday, February 1 at 4 pm.
