MADISON, N.J. -- The Elizabethtown College women's basketball team began a three-game conference road trip with a 66-51 win at Drew on Wednesday.
Jess King led the way with 15 points while
Cyleigh Wilson and
Ella Gordon also hit double figures for the Blue Jays in the win.
Elizabethtown led through one quarter, 18-16, and in the second began to pull away from the Rangers.
Gordon knocked in a three to begin the second and a minute later,
DaniRae Renno extended the Jays' lead to eight with an and-one.
Grace O'Connor provided assists on each make for Etown. O'Connor then drilled a three of her own to follow Renno's three-point play as Etown put up nine points in under two minutes of game action to lead 27-18.
The Rangers were only as close as eight points the rest of the quarter as EC shot 8-for-18 from the field and 5-for-8 from three-point range while Drew was 33.3 percent overall and 1-for-5 from three.
Elizabethtown led 41-29 at halftime.
Makenna Mummert and King kept the lead in double digits through the first couple minutes of the third. The Rangers cut it to nine with 6:17 left, but Wilson hit another of her game-high four treys in response. Gordon pushed the lead to 17 with another three late in the third and through three quarters, Etown led by 15 going into the fourth.
Neither side shot well in the final quarter of play, but that benefited the Blue Jays more as they held firm command of the game and with the Rangers unable to take advantage, Elizabethtown finished out the game to improve to 8-1 in the conference.
The Blue Jays will head to Lycoming on Saturday, January 25, at 2 p.m.
