Women's basketball set several program records in win over Goucher

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. -- The Elizabethtown College women's basketball team set several program game records in Wednesday night's 101-74 win over Goucher at Thompson Gymnasium. DaniRae Renno led all scorers with 23 points and added 11 rebounds. Summer McNulty posted 17 points while Makenna Mummert and Cyleigh Wilson each finished with 14 apiece.

The Blue Jays got out in front of Goucher right away and never relinquished their lead. The Gophers' pressed all game and Elizabethtown was able to rack up plenty of points in the paint, outscoring their opponents 58-32 on the night down low.

Etown hit 12 of their first 18 shots and led 29-16 after one quarter.

The Jays' defense limited the Gophers to just four makes in the second quarter as they blew the game wide open with a 30-8 advantage in second-quarter points. Goucher failed to shoot 30 percent from the field for only the third time in 14 games and their 27 made field goals were tied for their second-fewest in a game this season.

The Blue Jays drilled six second-quarter threes and hit on 50 percent of them to take a 59-24 lead into halftime. McNulty led the way with 13 through two quarters while Renno had 12 and 7 by the half. Jess King grabbed eight first-half boards as the duo of King and Renno both ended their nights with 11.

Goucher was able to outscore the Jays in the second half, 50-42 overall, but the gap was too wide for any type of comeback attempt in the end.

Elizabethtown set team single-game records with 60 rebounds and 29 assists. Mummert had a team-high six in the game. King and Allyia Kennedy had five, Ella Gordon and Grace O'Connor added four. O'Connor also had a team-best three steals in the game.

The Blue Jays were 40-for-70 overall (.571), the third-best shooting performance in program history on record and the most field goals made in a single game.

EC will host their Senior Day on Saturday, January 18, when they host Moravian at 2 p.m.
