ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.-- In a game of back and forth goals and great defensive efforts, the Elizabethtown field hockey team fell to visiting Scranton, 6-3 on Homecoming.
Hannah Long led the team with two goals while
Rachel Troutman added a goal and an assist.
Hailey Meyer also recorded her first career assist.
Scranton struck first following a penalty corner midway through the first quarter. Two minutes later the Royals made it 2-0. Troutman got one back for Etown late in the second quarter. Off a corner, H. Meyer inserted the ball on the left side to Troutman who lifted the ball high and over the Royals goalie.
Elizabethtown would open the third quarter with a tying goal as Long scored unassisted. Three minutes later, Scranton responded retaking the lead. Following two back to back Scranton shots, saved by
Angelina Giglio-Tos the Royals doubled their lead off a penalty stroke. In the 42nd minute, Troutman assisted Long for the Blue Jays third goal of the game. After Etown was awarded a corner early in the fourth, Scranton took over from there. The Royals would notch two more goals within three minutes of each other to win, 6-3.
Elizabethtown will travel to Alvernia this coming Tuesday, October 1 at 7 p.m.
