GETTYSBURG, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown field hockey was blanked, 2-0 at Gettysburg on a rainy Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.
Neither team could break through to get off a shot in the first quarter. Gettysburg outshot Etown in the second quarter, 9-1. In the first five minutes of the quarter the Blue Jay defense held strong as goalie,
Angelina Giglio-Tos made a save followed by defensive saves by
Hailey Meyer and
Megan Meyer. Five minutes later, Gettysburg got on the board, 1-0. The Bullets closed out the quarter extending their lead, 2-0 with just two minutes remaining.
In the second half, Elizabethtown held a 7-6 edge in shots. In the 44th minute, Etown was awarded a crucial penalty stroke but it was saved by the Gettysburg goalie. Both teams would fire off four shots in the final quarter but neither were successful in finding the back of the goal.
Elizabethtown will host Scranton this Saturday at 1 p.m. in Landmark Conference play.
