Blue Jay Extend Season with Win over Bridgewater St. at NCAA DIII Regionals

MIDDLETOWN, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown baseball returned to their old selves, Saturday against Bridgewater St. in the NCAA DIII Regionals Tournament. The Blue Jays pick up their first NCAA Regional win since 2017 as they defeated the Bears, 8-3.

This is also the first NCAA Regional win for Head Coach, Adam Sheibley at Elizabethtown. Elizabethtown moves to 32-13 which is just one win shy of tying the most wins in a season in program history.

Bridgewater St. gained momentum early as they scored three runs in the first on a three-run homer. These three runs would end up to to be the only runs for the Bears. With one out in the third, Joe Limongelli smacked a solo home run to left field for the Blue Jays first run of the game. Etown gained momentum off Limongelli's home run as the team would go on to score five more runs in the inning. After two straight walks and a hit by pitch the Blue Jay bases were loaded. Mason Woolwine knocked a single down the left field line to score two. AJ Bednar then reloaded the bases with a single to third base. On a sacrifice fly out, Elizabethtown would take the 4-3 lead over Bridgewater St. Bryce Keller hit a 2-RBI double to bring home two more for Etown, doubling their lead, 6-3.

After some scoreless innings, Elizabethtown added another run in the sixth off a sacrifice fly. The Blue Jays would score their final run of the game in the eighth off a Bears error.

Limongelli recorded his second home run of his career as he went 1 for 3 with one run and one RBI. Keller and Woolwine both went 1 for 4 with two RBIs. Logan Burns earned the win on the mound, pitching seven innings and tallying seven strikeouts.
