Blue Jays Take Two from Lycoming

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.-- The Elizabethtown baseball team got back in action, Sunday afternoon as they swept Lycoming, 8-5 and 5-3 (10 inn.). 

GAME 1: ELIZABETHTOWN 8, LYCOMING 5
The Blue Jays opened up April by getting started early in the first, scoring three runs. Quinten Perilli doubled to right center and reached third on a fly out. Perilli scored on AJ Bednar's single to right field. Mason Woolwine and Alex McClain would each record a RBI-single for two more Blue Jay runs. Elizabethtown added their fourth run on Perilli's solo shot home run to right field.

After a scoreless third, Lycoming cut Etown's lead as they scored three. To start the fifth, Woolwine doubled to left center and moved into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt. Woolwine scored on a sacrifice fly to give Etown a 5-3 lead. The Warriors would again come within one of Elizabethtown as they recorded a RBI-double in the seventh.

The scoring continued for the Blue Jays in the eighth as they piled on three more runs to ensure their 8-5 win over Lycoming. David Woolley hit a single then advanced to third after an error and a fly out. Woolley was able to score on a sacrifice bunt to bring the score to 6-4. Bednar brought home Perilli after he reached first on a Warrior error. Bednar then reached second and third on two Lycoming errors and went home on a balk for the Jays final run of the game. Lycoming added their final run in the ninth.

Justin Peterson grabbed the win on the mound, pitching three innings while striking out four.
Perilli went 3 for 6 with three runs, an RBI, a double, and a home run. Bednar went 2 for 6 with two runs and two RBIs.

GAME 2: ELIZABETHTOWN 5, LYCOMING 3
Both teams were slow to start in game two on the day as the game was scoreless until the fourth inning. Woolwine reached first via a walk and then scored off Joe Limongelli's double down the left field line. Lycoming took the lead in the fifth as they scored two runs. Elizabethtown responded in the sixth, tying the game at 2-2. Woolwine hit a RBI-single to left field to retake the lead at 3-2.

Lycoming again came back to tie up the game at 3-3 in the seventh. After nine innings, the two teams remained tied at 3-3 which would force extra innings. Etown got things going in the 10th as Woolley reached first on an error. Perilli singled through the right side to advance Woolley to third. Bryce Keller hit a 2-RBI single up the middle to bring home Woolley and Perilli.

Zach Silfies picked up his fourth win of the season as he struck out six in three innings.

The Blue Jays will step out of conference play on Tuesday April 9 at 3:30pm as they take a short trip over to York (Pa.).
